PHINdy Charity Activities

PHINdy has supported several charities in the Indianapolis area. We're always looking for ways that we can promote the club and provide
help to organizations and charities. If you have any suggestions for future charity activities, please
email Sue or Jennifer, our Charity Coordinators.
The following is a list of the charities we have supported:
Humane Society of Indianapolis
Club members are asked to bring a donation for the Humane Society of Indianapolis to each bidness meeting.
Visit their Web site for information on what are the most needed items.
In 2004, PHINdy also held a wine tasting to benefit the Humane Societies of Hamilton, Marian, and Morgan counties.
WRTV Toy Drive
For four years now, PHINdy has participated in the WRTV Toy Drive during the holiday season.
This has been a very successful charity event for the club. We have donated a lot of toys
to under-priviledged children. And, we've gained some publicity for PHINdy by
taping segments with Kevin Gregory that appear several times during the WRTV news during the
holiday season.
Komen Race for the Cure
Club members, their families, and friends have also put on their tropical gear and walked in the
Komen Race for the Cure for three years to help raise money for breast cancer research. The PHINdy team
has raised around $4000 for Komen.

Riley's Children's Hospital
In the summer of 2004, PHINdy volunteered at the Riley Miracle Ride. We helped sell
coffee, water, and muffins to many bikers participating in the ride. We also helped with
registration and with the picnic after the ride. A couple of members even hopped a ride
for the event. It was awesome seeing over 10.000 bikes participating in the ride to help
all of the children at Riley.
Also in 2003, PHINdy rented a bus to transport rowdy Parrot Heads to the Indianapolis show.
A portion of each bus reservation was donated to the Riley's Children's Foundation.
PHINdy was able to donate almost $300 to Riley.
Alzheimer's Association
For the past two falls, PHINdy has joined Parrot Head clubs across the country to participate
in the Memory Walk for the Alzheimer's Association. PHINdy's team has raised almost $2000
for the Alzheimer's Association.
Adopt a Street and Adopt a Median
PHINdy has adopted a street in Beech Grove and a median on Keystone, north of 71st St
between South River Rd and Ruth Drive. We clean up our adopted street twice a year
and we keep the median maintained and hope to do some landscaping on it in the future.
Indiana Children's Wish Fund
In July 2002, PHINdy teamed up with the Indiana Firebirds arena football team to raise
money for the Indiana Children's Wish Fund. The Firebirds
donated a portion of every ticket PHINdy sold to Parrot Head Night Down in Consecoville to the Children's
Wish Fund.
PHINdy also teamed up with WTTS 92.3 to hold an auction for tickets to the August 22nd Indianapolis Buffett show and
donated the proceeds to the Children's Wish Fund. The auction raised over $400 for the Wish Fund.
Other Charities
PHINdy also supports other charities by holding 50/50 drawings at various club activities.
